Instructor

Delisa Dean

Delisa is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City where she earned a degree in Voice Performance. She has sung with the American Opera Company of NY and the Los Angeles based Gilbert and Sullivan Repertory Company - "Opera a la Carte". Locally she has performed with the Bach Festival Choir of Winter Park, and the Messiah Choral Society. She was a member of the world-renowned Voices of Liberty at EPCOT from 1987 to 2020, and had the joy of being a teaching artist with Disney Performing Arts for 9 years, working with choirs from all over the country. For the past decade, Delisa has been a judge for the prestigious National Performing Arts Festival held each year at Walt Disney World, as well as an Artistic Director with the Penguin Entertainment Company of Orlando, leading their a cappella holiday caroling groups at several area theme parks. Recently, Delisa retired from ownership of Central Florida Performing Arts, a non-auditioned musical theater group for kids that she established in 1998. This highly successful program has helped hundreds of students build self-confidence through the performing arts. Delisa continues to teach private voice, working with students of all ages from beginning singers to professionals.

What people are saying

"Wonderful teaching tool."

How To Read Music In 7 Easy Lessons is a wonderful visual and physical tool in teaching the fundamentals of music. Delisa Dean has put together a great series to help any teacher or parent start with the basics of the language of music. This course would be the perfect way to introduce your student to music (especially if you would like to learn too)! I have taught piano for 23 years and these basics are very needed in establishing a foundation in reading music. I am also a veteran homeschool mother of two and vice president of a large homeschool co-op. I would recommend this program to all homeschool parents to supplement the arts into your curriculum. I also know this course could be used in a homeschool co-op setting, which would be a hit!

Some people are lucky enough to have a teacher who will have a lasting impact on their lives.  Delisa Dean is that person for our son, who was fortunate to study voice with her from ages 10-19. He is now 25 and has recently resumed vocal lessons with her. Delisa’s singing ability, Juilliard training, and experience in both performance and instruction make her a very effective voice coach.  While studying with Delisa, our son also learned to read music and developed tremendously in terms of singing ability and confidence which helped him earn many lead roles in musical theatre.  In addition to being a consummate professional, Delisa is a lovely, caring person who imparts not only knowledge but a love of music to her students.  I would highly recommend her new video course – How To Read Music in 7 Easy Lessons.

Delisa Dean sang for me in Disney’s VOICES OF LIBERTY for over 30 years. Her God-given talent is remarkable. Then you add her years of education at Wheaton College and Juilliard where she crafted that gift into a marvelous combination of passion and precision and you have the credentials of a truly great performer. But Delisa is more than a great singer. She knows how to impart her knowledge and expertise to students of all ages. I have watched her teach. My own daughter sang under Mrs. Dean’s direction for six years, and I personally watched her musical and stage presence grow under this talented and skilled teacher. Her new video course, How To Read Music In 7 Easy Lessons, will guide you through the basic steps of learning to read music and get you on the way to a more capable and competent “musical you.” Her concepts are clear, concise and contagious. This course will work for students of any age!

...springboard into the world of music reading

Jana (Homeschool Mom)

This video course, How To Read Music in 7 Easy Lessons was an engaging introduction to learning the language of music. I enjoyed incorporating the videos and worksheets into our homeschool curriculum, and especially the ability to graduate to the next lesson at our own pace. It’s a wonderful tool to springboard into the world of music reading.

"...improved my sight-reading skills!"

Debbie (adult student)

I am in a community choir and I purchased the How to Read Music in 7 Easy Lessons course with the expectation that I would be able to improve my sight-reading ability. It was helpful that the course started out with basics of the Treble and Bass Clef. I feel I have become more proficient in reading music and will go back and review what I’ve learned to continue to improve my sight-reading skills!

"The course delivers exactly what it promises!"

Maria Rivera-Jones (Founder: 2GM Music School)

As a very busy professional, I was excited to take Delisa's course How to Read Music in 7 Easy Lessons. The course delivers exactly what it promises! 7 Easy Lessons! I found it to be easy to follow and understand. I also enjoyed being able to immediately put into practice the concepts I learned by working on the printable worksheets. Delisa does a great job at thoroughly explaining each concept which made me feel confident I could understand it with ease. Each video contained just the right amount of information on the basics of how to read music. I highly recommend this course for anyone who is interested in playing music and needs to brush up on their skills or learn music reading from the very beginning. You will not be disappointed.
